The World Fit Walk 2013 was a huge success! 31,324 students from 80 schools across America and the Cayman Islands logged in a total of 1,867,478 miles over the six weeks of the Walk. Congratulations to Beaumont Middle School in Lexington, Kentucky and Cary Middle School in Dallas, Texas, for winning the National Championship for large and small schools respectively.
With childhood obesity reaching worrying levels in the Cayman Islands, promoters of a programme that involves Olympian athletes encouraging physical activities among young school-going kids hope their walking challenge will spread to more local schools.
