Last year, when I was in sixth grade we did something called World Fit. It’s a website where you type in how long your activity was. That changed my life by helping me to have more control of a soccer ball whenever I’m playing soccer.
Jasmine is one of the top students of our 2012 World Fit Walk National Champion, Winburn Middle School. She likes World Fit because it helps you stay active and I like how you could track your points.
Christopher Gurrola is a 15 year old 9th grader at Elizabeth Learning Center in Cudahy, California. His favorite physical activities are Soccer, Volleyball, and Water polo. Presently, Christopher participates in a competitive Soccer League, in which he competes in rigorous tournaments on the weekends. He also enjoys Motor cross and off-roading with his family and friends.
Matt, Ben, and Joe Schapker are triplet brothers who are 7th graders at RRMS. Judy Hoehn, gym teacher and World Fit leader selected the boys because they are outstanding representatives of the school and tremendous participants in World Fit during the 2010-2011 school year.
Ariel Conde is a highly motivated 12 year old 7th grade boy. He has 4 sisters and 2 brothers, and has lived in South Gate California his entire life. Ariel enjoys playing soccer and running at least 10 miles everyday. Motivating students is something he looks forward to doing during the World Fit Walk. He sometimes challenges other students to see who can walk/run more miles during World Fit on campus.
Julian Clark is a 13 year old seventh grader at Beaumont Middle School in Lexington, Kentucky. Julian is one of 1,050 Beaumont students that together completed 220,882 miles in the 2011 World Fit Walk. World Fit touches the lives of every participating kid to one degree or another. However, Julian Clark is a special story. Julian is on the autism spectrum and has cerebral palsy.
At first, I wasn’t too thrilled about the World Fit program, but as the program progressed, so did my motivation to be more active. The World Fit program is a terrific program in which students, parents, teachers, and the whole community pitch in to get their school to the top.
